First time students need not purchase any equipment. 

Beginining students, first three months: 
Any martial arts uniform or sweat pants and shirt 
1 obi-martial art belt 
1 boken-wooden sword 
You will be taught how to construct your padded staff
(approximate cost - $10).

Beginining students, after three months: 
Hakama & keikogi-traditional IAIDO uniform 
1 IAIDO obi 
Iaito-metal practice sword and scabbard 
Protective gear for staff sparring 

Advanced students:
Suburito 
Tandenbo 
2-3 different sizes wooden bo and jo 
Optional: high quality boken and/or Japanese katana 

* Students may purchase equipment through the dojo at 20% discount 
of retail prices.
